Serious Skincare

Tip! Rather than buy every skincare product on the market there is a lot you can do to help your skin by developing your own personal skincare program.

Serious skin care vs. winter weather, cleansers, and stress. Serious skin care fights the moisture stolen from skin. The latest intensive creams are like dryness police, working night and day to protect and replenish.

When it comes to moisturizers, they can be too rich or too thick. Serious skin care goes well beyond cold cream and petroleum jelly, today’s skin care products are remedies for dry skin and are packed with sophisticated ingredients. Now, natural skin care companies think they have fixed the final frontier, the ten-ply cashmere of hydration: super rich, long-lasting, and ultra-healing.

Since the 1970s, scientists have reported a global rise in the frequency of dry skin. Nobody knows why for sure. Part of the answer is linked to the increase in people’s exposure to chemicals, pollution, and acid rain. Our hydration expectations have shifted from flawlessly powdered, matte skin to more realistic dewy complexions.

Serious skin care experts also state dry skin is a topic that is commonly discussed. There is no standard definition for the condition. Even if you recognize it only by its symptoms: scaling, tightness, lines, irritation, and itchiness. The immediate cause is a disturbance in the skins outermost layer, which is made up of skin cells and lipids, fatty substances that help maintain moisture in the skin. When the balance of lipids get upset, the skin loses water, and skin cells, normally shed unnoticed, accumulate as white flakes.

Tip! Before settling on a skincare regimen, you have to know what skin type you have. If you’re lucky, you might have normal skin – not too dry or too oily, but just right.

Serious skin care experts say many dry-skin sufferers inherit the condition, but stress can also be a trigger. In a recent study, researchers found when people reported high anxiety levels, their skin’s permeability barrier (which retains moisture and repels irritants) was slower to recover after tape was applied to their skin and ripped off. The sale of specialty skin care products exploded when the study was understood.

Age is another cause of dry skin, since lipid levels decline over the years, especially when levels of estrogen drop during menopause. While teenage girls need to moisturize infrequently, the skin’s need for lubrication asserts itself a decade later. A client of a skin care products company says, My roommate in college would moisturize after every shower, and I remember thinking she was like an exotic dancer, always having to oil herself.

Tip! Cleansing wipes Wipes are for girls and women who live low maintenance skincare. Choose ones that are designed for your skin type.

The environment, including harsh winds, sunlight, and central heating also removes moisture from the skin. But the real harm comes from Americans’ increasing indulgence in their favorite daily ritual. Younger women often shower two or three times a day, using harsh cleansers (and not moisturizing). The body just can’t take it. Soap strips away lipids, and if lotion is not applied after a shower, evaporating water causes a rapid loss of moisture from within the skin. Not only is dry skin unappealing and itchy, but as its condition deteriorates, the skin become more vulnerable to bacteria, allergens, and chemicals. These, in turn, worsen the problem, causing the skin to relinquish more water and repair itself less and less effectively. Tip! Another important factor in skincare is skin hydration and this is helped by drinking a sensibly amount of water. I have seen it suggested that 4 to 8 cups a day is sensible but if you are drinking bottled mineral water check the chemical makeup of the water as some are high in sodium which means high salt levels.

Collagen in Skincare

Tip! If booking a makeup artist always plan ahead these services get booked quite far in advance as do popular venues and other wedding services. Have fun preparing for your wedding and its a great excuse to get on top of a good skincare regime.

Collagen is one of the main constituents of our skin. Located in the dermis, it is responsible for the resistance and integrity of the tissue. Collagen is a protein that serves as a key structural component of tissue, such as skin, bones, ligaments, etc. The dermis, the inner layer of the skin, contains large amounts of collagen, elastin and fibers which are responsilbe for your skin’s strength, texture and elasticity. Also, as we age, collagen becomes hard and cross-links with neighboring fibers making it difficult for the skin to hold moisture or maintain elasticity. It collapses on itself below the surface of the skin thus seen on the surface of the skin as wrinkles.

Wrinkles” title=”http://www.

Wrinkles” target=”_blank”>www.

Wrinkles, lines and rough skin texture are a SURE SIGN OF POOR DERMAL COLLAGEN HEALTH. Collagen used in creams remains an effective tool in the area of cutaneous hydration. In fact, one can compare its molecule to a big sponge able to absorb a great quantity of water. Therefore when applied to the skin it maintains it to a humid state and provides it with optimal hydration thus reducing the appearance of ageing signs.

After the age of 20 collagen production reduces l % per year.

Collagen creams help by hydrating (moisturizing) the epidermis which tends to firm and revitalise, favours cellular renewal, smooth and plump up the skin by increasing the skins elasticity. Help to nourish, repair and tighten the skin as it helps to replenish the skin’s own natural collagen making it softer and radiant. The main role of collagen creams is to help retain water in the stratum corneum, that is to maintain the epidermis in a normal state of hydration. Also collagen is well known for its healing properties!

Recommended use of collagen skincare products are at any age or as soon as fine lines or wrinkles start to appear!

Makeup Artist Tricks of the Trade - Skincare Advice and Makeup for Your Wedding or Special Event

Tip! Another important factor in skincare is skin hydration and this is helped by drinking a sensibly amount of water. I have seen it suggested that 4 to 8 cups a day is sensible but if you are drinking bottled mineral water check the chemical makeup of the water as some are high in sodium which means high salt levels.

Skincare - in preparation to your wedding this should be an essential part of your planning its just as important as choosing the right venue or dress, as all eyes will be on you and your bridal party so you want to look and feel great!

There are so many products out there that we are bombarded with choice. A salon is usually a good place to start as you can talk to someone who has specifically trained in skincare and will use a high quality range of products.

If you’re not doing it already cleansing and toning the skin is an important step in maintaining a healthy skin. Soaps tend to dry the skin out and are a fantastic breeding ground for bacteria, so avoid using on your skin and go for a gentler option such as a foaming face wash or face wipes if you want a quick cleanse.

Along with this, part of your everyday ritual should include twice daily moisturising even if your skin is oily you still should use a good moisturiser but one with a mattifying effect, which can help to control excess sebum production.

Tip! If booking a makeup artist always plan ahead these services get booked quite far in advance as do popular venues and other wedding services. Have fun preparing for your wedding and its a great excuse to get on top of a good skincare regime.

The day before the wedding make sure you exfoliate the skin so there is a good base to work on. Exfoliating gets rid of excess dead skin cells which cling to the surface and prevent your products from doing their job as effectively. Your makeup will look much better on a smoother skin.
Makeup - Choosing the right makeup is the next step.

What colours should you get and what will last?

I would always recommend using a qualified beauty therapist/makeup artist for your wedding as from experience many brides have found it a great help. A trial should be offered so you can view the products and the makeup will be applied therefore you can see what the finished look will be for your special day. A general rule that older members of the bridal party such as the mother of the bride should go for a light base nothing too heavy which may draw attention to fine lines and matte eye shadows. The bride can choose from many different looks, matte and flawless, the dewy look for a healthy natural appearance. When having the makeup done on the day it is fun and helps your morning run smoothly so when you are all made up you feel confident and ready to go.

If you decide to do your own makeup then you can have a makeup lesson to learn some of the tricks of the trade. Here are just a few, use a daker blusher in a tan colour under the cheekbones to lift them and make them appear higher and deeper ( I call this the cheekbone effect. Apply eyeshadow with a damp brush for longer wear and stronger colour for precise application. The best foundation I have come across during my time as a makeup artist has such a flawless finish but doesn’t look heavy or caked, it covers redness and is also water resistant. A foundation like this is ideal for brides as being perspiration proof when you get hot in the evening dancing the night away your skin will still look perfect.
